Front Panel:
The making
of the front panel. The front panel was made from aluminum
sheet cut to size from a company on the internet call Metal By
The Inch. They will cut your aluminum to what ever size you
need. Mine was cut to 19 1/8 x 8 inches. Holes were drill out
for three rocker switches, two one each for the load and plate
control. Three holes were cute for the three meters using a
circle cutting saw from Harbor Freight. Having a drill press
comes in real handy. Also holes were drill out for three led
lamps. Mounting holes for front panel were also drill to be
able to attach the panel to the chassis. After all hole were
drill next came the painting.
I first apply a two coat of gray primer. Then two coats of
flat black fast drying paint purchase from Home Depot, cost
about $1.00 per can the cheap stuff.
Next came the lettering for all switches, meter and the plate
and load controls. I wanted to make a circle around the plate
and load control knobs but could not quite figure out
how i was going to do it, and have a nice round circle. Then
the XYL came up with the idea of using one of her measuring
cups. That idea work out great.
